🍅🪄 Sugo Antico | Ancestral Italian Blend | Seasoned Sorcery by Green Magick Apothecary
For Pasta, Soups & Dipping Oils
About Sugo Antico
We aren’t Italian — but Italian-style cooking shaped our kitchen.
My mom had four kids to feed and a small budget to stretch, and pasta dishes were a staple in our home. Spaghetti sauce was the first thing she taught us to cook: a pot on the stove, herbs blooming in olive oil, tomatoes simmering low and slow.
She loved a robustly seasoned sauce — the kind that filled the house with aroma and tasted like it had been tended all day. Italian-style cooking was her favorite way to cook because it fed a lot of people well, without excess or waste.
When it came time to teach my own kids how to cook, I started the same way — with sauce.
Sugo Antico, meaning “ancient sauce,” is inspired by those meals and by my mom — the Feastkeeper — who taught us that good food doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive to be meaningful. It just needs time, intention, and seasoning that isn’t afraid to show up.
What Makes It Different
- Herb-forward and intentionally unsalted
- Built to hold up to long simmering
- Robust without being harsh or bitter
- Designed to bloom early and deepen over time
- Versatile enough for sauces, soups, and olive oil dips
This is not a sprinkle-on seasoning.
It’s meant to become part of the dish.
How We Use It (Feastkeeper Method)
- Warm olive oil with onion and garlic
- Add 1–1½ Tbsp Sugo Antico early
- Let the herbs bloom before adding tomatoes
- Simmer low and slow
We also love it stirred into warm olive oil for bread dipping, added to tomato soups, or used as a base seasoning for slow-cooked dishes.
Perfect For
- Marinara & spaghetti sauce
- Tomato-based soups & stews
- Olive oil + bread dipping
- Slow-simmered meals
- Everyday cooking with intention

A Note from the Kitchen
This blend exists because some recipes are more than food — they’re how knowledge gets passed down.
Sugo Antico honors the kind of cooking that feeds many, stretches what you have, and brings people to the table.
Just like she taught us.
